Miranda Francis, Head of Junior Programmes, comments: ‘I am thrilled that the London Sinfonietta have chosen to perform works by talented young composers from the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×¹Ù·½ Junior Department. Our composers have gained so much from working with these exceptional performers who specialise in the performance of new music. Their workshop with our composers was truly inspiring. This project has broadened our students' musical horizons and inspired them to create some challenging new music.’

The RCMJD offers student composers many valuable experiences through partnerships with the RCM and external venues and orchestras. There are opportunities to hear works performed by RCM Postgraduate Fellows and ensembles such as Juice and Onyx Brass, who have taken part in workshops and collaborative projects. Visits from eminent contemporary composers, such as RCMJD alumnus Mark-Anthony Turnage, form part of the programme. RCMJD composition students regularly win the BBC Proms Inspire competition and go on to study composition at leading universities and conservatoires.
