The º£½ÇÂÒÂ×¹Ù·½ (RCM) today announces a new artistic and educational partnership with the Stauffer Center for Strings in Cremona, Italy.

This April and May, students and professors from the RCM Strings Faculty will be hosted at the newly opened Stauffer Center for Strings in the renowned instrument-making city of Cremona, Italy. Across two intensive residencies, an RCM student string quartet, plus six solo violin and viola students will benefit from this new partnership. RCM strings professors will also lead sessions, sharing the College’s own long and distinguished history of string pedagogy.

Each year, a select number of the most talented students from across the world will benefit from the innovative programmes offered at the Center. Its reach will extend far beyond the city of Cremona through international residency partnerships with leading academic institutions such as the RCM. This will be complemented by teaching partnerships with leading international ensembles.

Stephen Johns, Artistic Director of the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×¹Ù·½, comments: ‘We are delighted to be developing our relationship with the Stauffer Center for Strings in Cremona. Both the RCM and the Stauffer Center offer world-leading musical educations and when we were approached it felt like a natural partnership, sharing our mutual expertise with all our students in Italy and the UK.’

Director General of the Stauffer Center for Strings, Paolo Petrocelli, says: 'We are extremely proud to start this collaboration with the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×¹Ù·½. We at the Stauffer Center for Strings in Cremona aim to stand out as an advanced and innovative platform of artistic cooperation, a dynamic hub dedicated to fostering, supporting and accompanying the artistic and professional growth of the new generations of musicians. The Center is a place where artists, teachers and students alike can meet, share ideas, and express their talent and creativity. Cultural diversity and gender equality are core values, as well as helping our young musicians to understand how to play at the best levels with the others and with just themselves on stage. We believe that the opportunity to bring together professors and students of the RCM and the Stauffer Academy will enrich both organizations and benefit many young musicians that are building their professional and artistic identity.’

The RCM Strings Faculty is a supportive community of talented individuals providing its students with a world-class programme of study and opportunities to learn from internationally renowned musicians. To find out more about studying in the Strings Faculty visit www.rcm.ac.uk/strings
