Adam Walker and Nick Deutsch join the RCM Woodwind Faculty as Visiting Professors

The º£½ÇÂÒÂ×¹Ù·½ is pleased to announce that renowned flautist Adam Walker and distinguished oboist Nick Deutsch join the RCM Woodwind Faculty in Autumn 2023.
Marie Lloyd, Head of Woodwind, comments: ‘I’m delighted to be welcoming both Adam Walker and Nick Deutsch to the department. Both are wonderfully supportive and inspirational musicians and teachers who will bring their unique perspectives to our already thriving department.’
Nick Deutsch has worked as Principal Oboe with many of the world’s leading orchestras including the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Mahler Chamber Orchestra and Gewandhaus Orchestra, and was a member of the Budapest Festival Orchestra for nine years. He has performed in Opera Houses including Berlin, Munich, Dresden and Oslo among others, and has performed at major music festivals over five continents. He performs regularly as a soloist and is also an active chamber musician working intensively with the Linos Ensemble and a founding member of the Hindemith Quintet.
Nick Deutsch comments: ‘I am deeply honoured and thrilled to join the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×¹Ù·½ as a Visiting Professor. I look forward to helping to inspire and nurture the next generation of future talent at this great institution.’
A multifaceted artist, Adam Walker has been a flute professor at the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×¹Ù·½ since 2017 and is committed to bringing the instrument to new audiences. He was appointed Principal Flute of the London Symphony Orchestra at the age of just 21 and performs regularly with the major UK orchestras including the Hallé, BBC Philharmonic, Ulster Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and the Sinfonia of London. He has given world premieres of concertos by composers including Brett Dean, Kevin Puts and Huw Watkins, and founded the Orsino Ensemble in 2018 with the mission of showcasing the depth and versatility of the wind chamber repertoire.
