Aimee Taylor
Scottish musician is currently studying for a PhD at the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×¹Ù·½, supported by a doctoral student bursary. Under the supervision of Professor Colin Lawson and Dr Ingrid Pearson, Aimée’s project examines the philosophy of historical performance.
Aimée performs on modern and historical flutes. She was recently awarded first prize in the National Flute Association Baroque Flute Artist Competition in San Antonio, Texas, U.S.A. Recent appearances include The Hanover Band, Dunedin Consort and Solomon’s Knot.
Aimée gained her BA in Music from the University of Oxford (Somerville College) and a diplôme d’exécution in modern flute performance from the École Normale de Musique de Paris. Her subsequent studies at the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×¹Ù·½ led to a Master of Music degree in historical performance (baroque flute), awarded with distinction, and an Artist Diploma in historical performance.
During her studies at the º£½ÇÂÒÂ×¹Ù·½, Aimée was an Irene Hanson scholar and a George Thornton Award-holder. She is also extremely grateful to have received a postgraduate award from Help Musicians and funding from the Zetland Foundation, the Women’s Careers foundation, the Scottish International Education Trust, the Kathleen Trust and the Stapley Trust.
